My grandson has been diagnosed with borderline autism. He is 3 and a-half-years-old and has been struggling with speech and concentration. He would also get very agitated. He has an adopted sister who is nine months younger and she has been communicating and talking in sentences for over a year. Two months ago my daughter put them on a sugar-free, gluten free diet. In addition, she has given them DMG, Ionic trace minerals, and chewable fish oil.
Today they came to visit us and we had not seen them for several weeks. I was surprised to see how well my grandson was talking and talking in sentences. He was able to match alphabet letters. He was calmer and able to carry on a conversation. I was amazed at the improvement.
Read more about this on my blog about DMG and autism.

Can you be Happy when you have a Chronic Disease?
I think your spirit or soul is grieved when you have a chronic illness. It's as if that beautiful soul is saying I am withering away because I want to be in a happy healthy body. I think you can help by acting as if it is happy. Using you smile muscles and saying "cheese" raises the endorphins in your brain. Your brain can't tell the difference between a phony smile and a real smile, Say positive affirmations, change your negative thinking, keep a gratitude journal, fill your heart with love. Meditate, listen to beautiful music,, try Tai Chi, get rid of stinking-thinking, and send positive notes to others.

The Touch of the Master's Hand
The Touch of the Master’s Hand It was battered and scarred,
And the auctioneer thought it
Hardly worth his while
To waste his time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile.
“What am I bid, good people,” he cried,
“Who starts the bidding for me?”
“One dollar, one dollar, Do I hear two?”
“Two dollars, who makes it three?”
“Three dollars once, three dollars twice, going for three.”
But, No,
From the room far back a grey haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow.
Then wiping the dust from the old violin
And tightening up the strings,
He played a melody, pure and sweet,
As sweet as the angel sings.
The music ceased and the auctioneer
With a voice that was quiet low,
Said, “What now am I bid for this old violin?”
As he held it aloft with its’ bow.
“One thousand, one thousand, Do I hear two?”
“Two thousand, who makes it three?”
“Three thousand once, three thousand twice,
Going and gone,” said he.
The audience cheered,
But some of them cried,
“We just don’t understand.”
“What changed its’ worth?
Swift came the reply
“The Touch of the Master’s Hand.”
And many a man with life out of tune,
All battered with bourbon and gin,
Is auctioned cheap to a thoughtless crowd
Much like that old violin.
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine
A game and he travels on.
He is gong once, he is going twice,
He is going and almost gone.
But the Master comes,
And the foolish crowd never can quite understand,
The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought
By the Touch of the Master’s Hand

Autism and Candida
There is evidence of a genetic link in autism and that link may be a compromised or weakended immune system.
According to Roger V. Kendall, author of "Building Wellness with DMG," 85 percent of children with autism have microbial overgrowth of viruses, yeast, and pathogens in their gut. "With an impaired digetive tract, food intolerances, allergies and microbial overgrowths result. If left untreated dysfunctional gastrointestional issues can further complicate neurological problems and worsen physical symptoms associated wtih autism."
Researchers have documented yeast overgrowths(Candida albicans) in the intestinal tract of autistic children. High levels of candida may be a contributing factor may to behabioral problems. When there are abnormal gut microbes, the yeast present in the intestinal tract can grow rapidly, and releses toxins in the brain. The toxins can then influence the functioning of the brain.
More Research
A case study found that a child with autism was found to have complete IgA deficiency (serum IgA <6 mg/dl; normal 33-235mg/dL), Candidiasis of the gastrointestinal tract based on evaluation of stool testing, elevated urine arabinose, and elevated serum antibodies to wheat and dairy products. “The pretreatment urinary arabinose concentration (341 mmol/mol creatine in this child was nearly six times the mean value (60.4 mmol/mol creatinine) of normal controls. After antifungal therapy for four months, the urine was retested. At the time the urine arabinose was measured at 51 mmol/mol creatinine, a value only 15% of the baseline sample. Restriction of wheat and dairy products from the diet and antifungal therapy led to a significant decrease in autistic behaviors and increased rate of learning. The Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS), an observational measure of various aspects of autism, for the child has decreased from a
rating of 43 (severely autistic) prior to introduction of these therapies to a value of 29 (non-autistic) after the therapy. (Shaw, Baptist, and Geenens)
“Studies done by the late Reed Warren Ph.D. at Utah State University and others indicate that most children with autism have a substantial immune abnormality. Konstantareas and Homatidis at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada found a high correlation between the prevalence of ear infections and the incidence of autism. They found that the earlier a child had an ear infection, the more likely that child had a more severe form of autism. Candida infection has been reported as consequence of frequent antibiotic usage in both humans and animals and an abnormal increase in the sugar arabinose probably from Candida has been reported in urine samples of two siblings with autism. However, Candida infection may also be common in children with immodeficiencies who do not have an unusually high number of infections treated with antibiotics. The pattern of gastrointestinal Candida overgrowth, immunodeficiency, metabolic disorder and autism is well-illustrated in the medical history of the child evaluated by us.” (Shaw, Baptist, and Geenens)

Autism and DMG
I have just been reading "Building Wellness with DMG," written by Roger V. Kendell, and is a book I highly recommend.
DMG (N,N-Dimethylglycine) is a metabolic enhancer built from the simplest amino acid, glycine. DMG is a natural substance found in low levels of the body and is a safe hypoallergenic nutrient that prevents degeneration of the body.
In 1965, two Russian scientists published a study on mentally handicapped children and pangamate (which ocntaind DMG as its active ingredient). Twelve of the 15 children who had previously been unable to speak showed drastic improvement. In addition to increasing in vocabulary, they began speaking in sentences. The children improved mentally, had better concentration and were more interested in their environmnet. In 1975, Dr. Allen Cott published a similar paper with nine autistic children. In 1997, Dr. Shin-siong Jung did a double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 84 students.
The DMG group showed significantly significant Improvement on five scales used to measure the effictiveness of DMG: irritability, lethargy, stereotypy, inappropriate speech, and hyperactivity.
In a survey of 21,500 parents of autistic children conducted at the Autism Research Institute in San Diego, California, under the direction of Dr. Rimland, showed significant in regard to the use of DMG and behavior modification.
Stephen Edelson, Ph.D., Center for the Study of Autism in Salem, Oregon, says that DMG is safe, inexpensive, and helps half of all autistic individuals. DMG strengthens the immune system, decreases seizure activity, and helps with mental clarity. . Dr Rimland found that from 50 to 75 percent of individuals benefited from DMG.. Recommended dosage is 125 mg from one to four times a day for children, Start with one dose of 125 mg and gradually build up to four. Consult your doctor for specifics. .
Autism is linked to abnormal metabolism, an irregular immune system, and neurological dysfunction. Studies show that DMG helps in all of these areas.
